XL DAY: grootse afsluiting HighTechXL accelerator programma
Tijdens de finale van het HighTechXL accelerator programma presenteerden startups en alumni hun demo’s, visies, apps en producten voor de toekomst. Sports & Technology heeft diverse startups vanuit het cluster aangedragen voor het programma en hen gedurende het traject voorzien van coaching en begeleiding. Hugsy
Soothing care for preterm babies
What:
Hugsy is a new form of neuroprotective and developmental care for preterm babies that enhances bonding between parents and their premature babies. Parents cannot always be in the hospital with their little one, so babies stay in the incubator. Hugsy is designed to make this difficult separation more bearable by exposing babies to the parental heartbeat, smell, and supportive positioning, simulating Kangaroo Care.
Status:
Is finalizing the first clinical trials at Maxima Medical Centre, and preparing for 4 more. You can invest in Hugsy via Leapfunder.

In-depth analytics for rowing sports
What:
In rowing, the slightest error in the tiniest detail makes the difference between winning and losing. Otis Insight gives coaches and athletes the possibility to get the most of every training, providing them with in-depth analysis of stroke after stroke, when they need it most – in real time. Our high precision trackers measure key metrics of up to four boats at once, and send this information to the coach’s monitor, boosting the efficiency of every training, for both coach and crew.
Status:
Launched their first product, the ROW4 tracking system, at the Heineken Regatta in Amsterdam.

Lia
Wearable for correct posture
What:
Spinal tech are the maker of Lia – a wearable device combined with an application that helps you get into the habit of good posture. Almost 80{68093828b8bf2a7315759d70969acd9baa0f37459a715456bcbb6527e4bc1d58} of the whole population will experience head, neck, and back pain at some point in their lives, and bad posture is one of the leading causes. Lia helps eliminate and prevent the consequences of poor posture. It trains your muscles and using their memory, helps you get into a habit after just 3-4 weeks of using Lia.
Status:
Is working with physiotherapists on the functionality of the device and is soon launching their crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

Oriense
Navigation assistant for the blind
What:
Oriense enables blind people to become self-reliant. The computer vision-based wearable device called Oriense helps them function independently, without needing assistance from guide dogs or people around them. Oriense employs location services and audio output to help blind people navigate from point A to point B bypassing obstacles and staying informed of their surroundings.
Status:
Sold 100 devices and recently partnered with TomTom for maps, van Berlo for design, and New Ways for mass production.

Sustonable
Light-weight composite stone
What:
Sustonable offers a sustainable and affordable composite stone made of recycled PET and quartz or marble resins. Annually 30 million tons of PET waste are generated worldwide, mainly from PET drinking bottles. Sustonable has developed a new and patented continuous process that only uses industrial waste and only 20{68093828b8bf2a7315759d70969acd9baa0f37459a715456bcbb6527e4bc1d58} of raw material to produce one engineered stone kitchen counter that weighs three times less than standard solutions.
Status:
The advanced material startup signed a €350 seed round led by BOM Capital and Dekker, who is also their launching customer.

IPOS
Rein tension sensors
What:
IPOS developed a sensor for horse riders that sits between the bit and the reins. It registers how the rider communicates with the horse. They provide direct feedback to rider/coach via Bluetooth to an app on your smart device. This can enhance performance and training efficiency, prevent injuries, and improve animal well-being.
Status:
17 countries are using the IPOS beta version, while the commercial product is already generating a 10.000 euros revenue in pre-sales.

Crayonic
Trusted digital signature
What:
Crayonic makes signing of electronic documents as easy as the traditional handwritten, pen-and-paper way, yet even more secure than current state-of-the-art digital technologies. Crayonic is a system of two sophisticated technological products: a pen which converts handwritten signatures to a secure cryptographic digital signature or to biometric digital signature, and a mobile application that is able to securely exchange, view, sign and timestamp electronic documents according to the strictest EU standards.
Status:
The Slovak startup has ABN AMRO currently testing their secure and highly usable authentication technology.

Onera
Smart sleep monitor
What:
Bad sleep can deeply affect our daily life, and has profound consequences on our health, social life and relationships. The Onera patch is a home sleep device that helps you understand your sleep, and identify risks to your health early on so that you can take action. Our technology is the result of years of research at IMEC and the Holst Centre in wearable healthcare, medical devices, and clinical research in chronic conditions.
Status:
The Imec spin-off announced a partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Ovao
Smart swimming
What:
In the overcrowded market of heart rate trackers, the dominating wrist wearables are not suited for swimmers. Ovao is a fitness tracker that can be easily attached to the strap of almost any pair of swimming goggles. Its smart position and ergonomic design allow swimmers to receive information about their performance without interrupting their exercise. It does this by displaying colour-coded information about heart rate directly onto the goggles.
Status:
The Lithuanian swimmer and Olympic gold medalist, Rūta Meilutytė, will be the ambassador of the device currently being tested with InnoSports Labs.

Uscoutfor
Live video platform for amateur sports
What:
Uscoutfor is a platform that provides real-time insight to players and trainers in their performance. With a sophisticated video algorithm, we can detect behavioral patterns in sports and distribute high-value content to fans all over the world. Athletes get to show their skills, fans watch and interact with outstanding talents, clubs and scouts search on all available data.
Status:
The startup has already secured a €500K investment, and is launching their app this month completely free of charge.

Uvisio
Personal sun protection
What:
Skin cancer is by far the most common type of cancer. Uvisio provides a personal health solution for skin cancer prevention. It targets skin cancer from different angles: Measure the exact amount of a person’s sun exposure time based on UV, the personal risk profile, and a calculation of aggregated sun exposure over time. The device can then warn the user when their dose approaches their personal maximum.
Status:
Announced partnerships with Henkel, 2 sunscreen producers in the EU, and a pilot project + a global roll-out campaign with Coppertone.

BerkelBike
Electrical stimulation for the disabled
What:
BerkelBike helps people who are physically impaired to have a better life. The electrical stimulation technology from BerkelBike makes it possible for spinal cord injury patients to actively cycle despite their paralyzed legs. But spinal cord injury patients are not the only ones to benefit from the bike: It can also help other groups, such as people with MS, brain injuries, or amputee patients.
Status:
Boasted a total of 400 bikes sold to patients with spinal cord injury and MS, worth €3 million in revenue.
